Many businesses offer discounts to certain groups but don't advertise them. The simplest money-saving habit is to ask.
Groups that often qualify
- Students, with a valid student ID or email
- Seniors, with ages that vary by business
- Active military and veterans
- Teachers, nurses and first responders
- Households receiving SNAP or other assistance
- Members of auto clubs and other associations
How to ask
"Do you offer any discounts, for example for students or seniors?" Ask before you pay, online and in person.
