Price adjustments and price matching
Get money back when prices drop after you buy.
Some stores will refund the difference if an item goes on sale shortly after you buy it, or match a competitor's lower price. Policies vary, so knowing the rules pays.
How it usually works
- Price adjustment: the same store lowers the price within a set number of days
- Price matching: a store matches a competitor's advertised price
- Most require a receipt and the identical item in stock
- Many exclude clearance, limited-time and marketplace sellers
Make it a habit
- Keep receipts for bigger purchases for a few weeks
- Read the store's policy online before you ask
- If a store won't adjust, returning and rebuying may be allowed; check the return policy
